All of these creations have a story. They either came about because of a set of requirements that couldn't be filled without special attention, or, as in the case of the "Significant Other Bench" featured in Departures magazine, because I often have the desire to build a piece that hasn't yet been seen. Some of these pieces have wide application, while others are very site specific and address a particular need. It is important to me to try to present a fresh take on these forms, and they are presented as original creations. If any of these pieces solves a need the viewer might have, or if a direction is established or a conversation begun, the photos have served their purpose. I'm happy to reproduce one of my designs, or a variation thereof, when asked, but I also enjoy exploring the new territory that goes with solving a special request.

I work in a wide variety of styles, from traditional motif pieces and architecturally inspired work, to free-flowing forms suggested by the material itself. My involvement with forest management and the actual harvesting and sawing of my materials has given me access to a truly great supply of woods unique to Hawaii. I could not ask for more inspiring surroundings in which to bring out these forms. I hope that you will be able to visit us here to see what I mean.
